Það er fyrirheiti í Orðinu sem lofar okkur því, að ef við leitum Guðs af öllu hjarta þá munum við finna Hann. Það er ekki að Guð sé týndur. Guð er Andi og þeir sem vilja tilbiðja Hann, þurfa að gera það í anda og sannleika. Holdið er því stór ástæða fyrir því að aðskilnaður er á milli Guðs og manns.
Jak 4:8
Nálægið yður Guði, og þá mun hann nálgast yður. Hreinsið hendur yðar, þér syndarar, og gjörið hjörtun flekklaus, þér tvílyndu.
Helgun
Það er eitt sem er nauðsynlegt til þess að nálgast Guð og heyra frá Honum og það er að helga sig og ég fjallaði um það í nýlegri grein sem hitir “Helgun og friður”. Annað lykilatriði er að læra að bíða og hlusta.
Hver er vilji Guðs fyrir okkar líf og hvað við eigum að vera að gera eru spurningar sem margir kannast eflaust við. Guð hinsvegar þekkir bænir okkar áður en við biðjum þær og veit nákvæmlega hvers við þörfnumst. Það er því mikilvægt að bíða hljóð/ur frammi fyrir Drottni og hlusta á hvað Hann vill segja okkur.
Holdið megnar ekkert og er hyggja þess aðeins dauði. Ég hafði verið að hugleiða Drottinn og hversu stór Hann er, hvernig Hann skapaði alheiminn, verk Hans fyrir okkur í Kristi á krossinum, og svo hversu mikið er hægt að fá að upplifa ef maður er tilbúin að greiða gjaldið og fara alla leið með Drottni. Við vitum að það er hægt að upplifa hluti í andanum sem eru ekki af þessum heimi og til að nefna dæmi langar mig að nefna þegar að Páll Postuli vitnar um að hann hafi verið tekinn upp til þriðja himins. Það eru ótal frásögur til af fólki sem hefur öðlast sambærilegar reynslur, kraft til lækninga og svo mætti lengi telja.
Andleg upplifun
Ég upplifði í skamma stund eðli holdsins og hinn andlega mann innan frá. Ég skynjaði að ég var í andanum í bókstaflegri merkingu. Ég skynjaði að þetta væri sá staður sem allt getur gerst og að þarna er hægt að dvelja með Guði og meðtaka opinberanir. Þarna sá ég líka hver staða holdsins á að vera gagnvart andanum. Andinn á að ríkja og holdið á að vera þjónn andans. Miðað við allt það sem Guð er, skynjaði ég hversu sorgleg staðreynd það er að stjórnast af holdinu og meðtaka aðeins af þessum náttúrulega heimi, þegar svo mikið meira stendur okkur til boða.
Jesús hefur með lífi sínu opnað aftur leiðina inn í hið allra helgasta með krossdauða sínum og úthellingu síns Heilaga Anda. En það er okkar að taka við því og lifa í því. Það gerist ekki af sjálfum sér og þurfum við að taka krossinn daglega og berjast trúarinnar góðu baráttu. Það er því miður sorgleg staðreynd að það er ekki erfitt að vera holdlegur kristinn einstaklingur og láta hyggju holdsins stjórna.

Því að ef þér lifið að hætti holdsins, munuð þér deyja, en ef þér deyðið með andanum gjörðir líkamans, munuð þér lifa.

Mig langar að deila með ykkur litlum kafla á ensku úr bók sem heitir “Come Away My Beloved, eftir Francis J. Roberts”. Í honum er einmitt fjallað um þetta holdlega ástand sem ég hef verið að lýsa.
O Wicked and perverse generation: have I been so long in your midst and yet ye have perceived Me not? Have I not ministered unto thee in a myriad of ways, and ye have been blind? Yea, and when I speak unto thee, ye do not hear.
O My children, ye go your way as though ye belonged to another; yea, ye believe not as sons and daughters but as strangers, Ye hold meetings in My Name and give honor to men but not to Me. Ye boast that ye serve Me, but in truth ye serve your own ego; for that which ye do is calculated to enhance thine own position and advance thine own prestige, and ye give it all a sanctimonious cloak.
“See,” ye say, “We shall pray,” while prayer is farthest from thy heart. And who shall hear thee? Only thine own ears. Prayer is for those whose hearts cry unto Me in sincerity, and who seek me earnestly; not for those with only a pretended piety, and who, with selfish and unworthy motives and hearts made fat with self-adulation, are only playing with Me as a child would manipulate a puppet on a string!
Get you to the prayer closet! This is the reason I have taught thee to pray IN SECRET: because there ye are beset by fewer false motives and less temptation. He who does not habitually commune with Me alone is almost sure to find true prayer impossible in public.
Ye would make Christianity pleasant and acceptable: your Saviour did not find it so. You would make comfortable and accommodation to your own schedule: He knew nothing of such false religion.
Lonely nights, He wrestled in prayer, nor spared the flesh discomfort. Yea, and the more ye pamper the flesh as to bodily comfort, the more it shall demand of thee, until ye become its servant, and thy physical needs shall be a tyrant unto thee in thy house.
Be not deceived. I gave thee no such commandment. Hear Me as I repeat to you what I gave to your fathers: “Deny thy SELF and TAKE UP THY CROSS and FOLLOW ME.” Yea, follow ME – not some worldly form of a backslidden church.
Think not that it becometh blest because it bears the name church. My Church is a living body, not a dead form. My people may be recognized by their humility and sufferings; not by their social acceptability and their self-advertized success; not by extravagant physical appointments of their structures; but by the grace of God at work in their hearts. Sacrifice is My symbol, and man has not been eager to decorate the type of spiritual leadership I had in servants like Paul and Jeremiah.
Do yea desire to follow Me truly? Look for the blood-stained prints of My feet. Go, as it were, to the cold, unyielding rock in the garden of Gethsemane, where self is put aside, and the cup of suffering is accepted. Die to thine own treacherous and deceitful heart. Rise with determination to go on unflinchingly, not hoping to spare thyself. Save thy life, and ye shall surely lose it. Offer it up to Me, thus very day, in a renewal of consecration unto sacrificial living, and I will accept thee and thou shalt know joy as new wine.
